Abstract

Lake View High School, located at the corner of Ashland Avenue and Irving Park Road, was the first high school in Lake View Township. The history of the school is documented in this collection, which includes early annual reports, newspaper clippings, and programs and ephemera from school events. The collection also includes a run of the school’s Red and White yearbook, Lake Re View newspaper, and photographs.

Abstract

From 2007 to 2015, Linda Erf Swift photographed students from three Chicago high schools in the Hyde Park and Kenwood neighborhoods. The goal of her Chalkboard Project was to generate dialog between students and awareness about their communities, schools and lives. This collection contains six color portraits, exhibit captions and a text panel from the 2015 exhibition at Harold Washington Library Center.
